| OBSERVATIONS | The well was located just outside the spirit wall a few steps from my house, and it served perhaps twenty or thirty households. It was protected by its own guardian deity represented by the small rounded stone in the photo. It is new year and a new protective charm has been pasted over it. The groundwater became heavily polluted in the 1980s and the well was sealed with a locked grid. Fortunately, potable piped water by that time had been laid to every house in the village. |
