Cantonese Films

In 1954, Wong Jum-sum followed teacher Liang Yat-chiu into the studio, helping to record film music. The first film he was involved in was Malaya Love Affair, a serious and star-studded production, with a flavouring of social message. In 1959, Wong was back in the studio, this time doing film music for the beautiful rising star Patricia Lam Fung, then nineteen years old. Watching films like this, a whole generation of young people left social message and Malaya behind to venture into a brave new world that was 100% made in Hong Kong.
