Kowloon City, like Tsim Sha Tsui, was lavish in mountains and hillocks such as White Crane Hill, Po Kong and the famous Sung Wong Toi. Some of the hills were already exploited and even quarried by the indigenous residents. An agrarian region for hundreds of years, it was also carpeted with verdant farmlands and terraced fields, therefore abounded in villages formed by the indigenous farming population, such as Nga Tsin Wai Village, Nga Tsin Long Village, Tung Tau Village, Sai Tau Village, Sha Po Village, Hok Lo Village, Chuk Yuen Village, Shek Kwu Lung Village and Tak Ku Ling Village, to name a few.
