An overseas clansman returns to his cultural home
Ng Sui Kuen was born and raised in the village. His childhood came to an end when he emigrated to the UK at 16. In the 1990s, he returned to his hometown to find his childhood friends.

Ng Sui Kuen was born in Hong Kong in 1952. He is a descendant of the 24th generation of the Ng Clan in Nga Tsin Wai and belongs to the first branch of Kwong Un Tso (eldest branch). Ng Sui Kuen grew up in Nga Tsin Wai. His clan owned an ancestral house on the 1st Lane. His parents had worked in the British Royal Air Force quarter in Ngau Tau Kok, but his father went to Britain for work in 1961. Ng Sui Kuen completed his primary education in Chi Tak Public School. In 1967, he went to Britain under his father’s arrangement. He quitted studies at 16 and worked in a Chinese restaurant in Newcastle. He moved to Scotland for career development in the 1970s and opened a restaurant in Edinburg. From 1991 onwards, he returns to Hong Kong every year and has gatherings with the Nga Tsin Wai clansmen. He will participate in the ancestral worships on Chung Yeung Festival and the celebration activities of the Birthday of Tin Hau and the Jiao Festival. In 2001 under the request of Ng Kau the village headman, he became the manager of the eldest branch of Ng Shing Tat Tso, a post which he still holds today. His responsibilities include management of the Ng Clan’s properties on behalf of the eldest branch and following up the development of Nga Tsin Wai Tsuen.
