Ng Yiu Fai
Ng Yiu Fai
A clan officer identified with his ancestral root in his middle age
Ng Yiu Fai was originally none too fussed about life in the walled village. The fact that his family’s migration overseas left him all alone in Hong Kong in the 1990s inspired him to explore his links in his spiritual home.

Ng Yiu Fai was born in Nga Tsin Wai in 1956 and is one of the 28th generation of the village’s Ng Clan via the Ng Sz Ko Tso branch. Ng Yiu Fai was born into a well-off family which owned three ancestral houses. His father was a clerk with Hong Kong Aircraft Engineering Company, while his mother was a housewife. Ng Yiu Fai’s father was actively involved in the duties of his clan and the walled village and served as manager with both Ng Yat Un Tso and Ng Sz Ko Tso. Ng Yiu Fai grew up in the walled village and moved out with his family in 1972. After completing junior secondary school, he was admitted to South East Radio College. Upon leaving the college, he took a job at Kai Tak Airport where he continues to work in the catering services division of an airline company to this day. Ng Yiu Fai’s family emigrated to Canada in the mid-1990s leaving him alone in Hong Kong. This gave him the idea of following on in his ancestors’ tradition and as a result, he began to take a keener interest in clan affairs. He subsequently served as the manager of Ng Sz Ko Tso in 2007, representing his branch by participating in the operations of Ng Wai Wing Tso and Ng Yat Un Tso Limited. At the same time, he also assisted in Nga Tsin Wai Village Office with its clerical work.
