Stories of Nga Tsin Wai and Hau Wong Temple
When Nga Tsin Wai celebrated the Birthday of Tin Hau before World War II, male villagers generally cooked celebratory vegetarian meals themselves, while the women fetched water and washed vegetables. Celebrating the Birthday of Tin Hau back then was not as grand as nowadays as the villagers attached most importance to Hau Wong Temple. In those far-off times, Hau Wong Temple also belonged to Nga Tsin Wai, whose villagers were said to have come from Kowloon Walled City. As their population expanded, people surnamed Ng, Chan, Lee and Che moved out to settle in the village.
