Wu Guo Qiang was born in Hong Kong in 1949. He is a descendant of the 25th generation of the Ng’s Clan in Nga Tsin Wai and belongs to the first branch of Kwong Yuen Tso (eldest branch). His father Wu Hua You joined the Communist Party in 1925 in Mainland China and took part in the revolution. On the eve of the Japanese Occupation of Hong Kong in 1941, his father returned to Hong Kong and formed the self-defense squad in Nga Tsin Wai. In 1950, Wu Guo Qiang’s father took him to Guangzhou and settled there. His father was appointed as Head of the Huangpu Port Office under the Transport Department and later became the Superintendent of the Guangzhou Sanatorium of the Chinese Seamen Trade Union. Guangzhou was the place where Wu Guo Qiang studied and worked. For a very long time, he had worked in the Huangpu Port, responsible for the repair and maintenance of life rafts. In the early 1990s, Wu Guo Qiang succeeded his father as the branch manager of Ng Shing Tat Tso and managed the clan’s assets on behalf of the eldest branch. In 1988, he first returned to Hong Kong to deal with the clan affairs. He resigned in the early 2000s. His younger brother Wu Guo Jian also studied and worked in Guangzhou. Both of them are deeply affected by their father’s devotion to the nation. Although they have never lived in Hong Kong, they consider Nga Tsin Wai to be their home town.
