From immovable to movable property: transformation of Ng Hon Ko Tso property
In 1957, the government resumed Ng Hon Ko Tso’s farmland in Tai Hom Village. After receiving compensation, the clansmen bought a flat in San Po Kong and decided to lease it. Later a clanman from the third branch sold the property and desposited the money in a bank. The saving was used for tomb sweeping every ninth month of the lunar calendar. It was managed by the 4 managers of Ng Hon Ko Tso. Ng Fat Chuen began to take over the financial affairs since 1988. In the beginning, he wrote his balance report on carbon papers and distributed them to the 24 households in the branch. Later, he distributed photocopies instead. After auto-pay was set up, he no longer deals with the transfer of money by his own hands. This enhanced the trust’s financial transparency.
