The episode “The Ten Tigers Wreaking Havoc at the West Hill Temple” was produced as an attempt to reconstruct an old-style martial arts radio drama; it was made in 2000 by Radio Two of Radio and Television Hong Kong and broadcast in a morning programme; it imitated the way martial arts radio dramas were performed in the 1950s and 60s. It was written by Chan King Chong with Chung Wai Ming as the solo narrator.

The episode centres on the determination of Zhuo Ran, the West Hill Temple Abbot, to seek revenge against Lu Ya Cai. The story begins when Lu Ya Cai’s coffin is being transported to the West Hill Temple to receive offerings, escorted by the Ten Tigers of Guangdong, ten prominent martial art experts of the province. When the men arrive, they discover that not only has the altar for the offering ritual not been built, but, more shockingly, the Abbot Zhuo Ran has even thrown the coffin out of the temple. Extremely indignant, the Tigers immediately start to fight the monks of the temple. The fighting scene, involving many different martial styles and forms, comes alive through Chung Wai Ming’s skilful narration.
