Caine Road

Caine Road, located behind (south of) Chancery Lane, and Caine House, presently the Police Headquarters, are both named after Captain William Caine, the first official to be charged with public security in Hong Kong. Caine provided 18 years of civil service in Hong Kong and had taken key government positions including Colonial Administrator and Acting Governor. He retired in 1859.
